Student & Parent Expectations

Parents/Learning Coaches Should Understand and Expect to: 

  • iUniversity Prep is a rigorous college prep magnet school. 100% of all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are covered at grade level for each course.

  • Reading comprehension and fluency at or above grade level are crucial for student success in iUniversity Prep’s online learning environment.

  • Monitor and discuss student progress each day.

  • Ensure supervision of the student at home daily.

  • Create and maintain a daily home schedule dedicated to authentic learning, studying, and active participation in live lessons, tutoring, and open office.

  • Respond proactively and timely with all iUniversity Prep staff and professors.

  • Commit to travel within a maximum of 150 miles to attend face to face STAAR/EOC testing on specific days assigned. 

  • Students must be on pace and passing each course every Monday morning.

  • Ensure an internet connection of a minimum speed of 55 download and 10 upload. This may be tested at:  Speed Test Website

  • Obtain a current computer designated to full time schooling, along with a webcam and headset with a mic.  

    • Windows computers must have a full version of Windows 10 or 11 installed.

    • Apple computers must have at least Catalina (MacOS 10.15) installed.  

  • Due to software requirements, computers, tablets, or phones running ChromeOS, a mobile version of Windows, Android, or IOS are not suitable as the primary learning device for our environment

Students Should Understand and Expect to:

  • Discuss and show parent/learning coach progress each day.

  • Create and maintain a daily home schedule dedicated to focused  learning, studying, and active participation in live lessons, tutoring, and open office.

  • Respond proactively and timely with all iUniversity Prep staff and professors.  This includes checking your gradebook and responding to professor comments and feedback.

  • Be on pace and passing each course every Monday morning.

  • Be prepared to work approximately seven hours per day on school.  Students in AP, accelerated, or advanced courses should expect to commit more time.  Students who struggle with focus or time management should expect additional time to complete schoolwork each day.
